Areva changes name to Orano: On Jan. 23, 2018, Areva changed its name to Orano.
Mitsubishi reaches general agreement on terms for investing in Areva: On February 3, 2017, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) announced that it has reached a general agreement on the terms for making a minority stake investment in a new company (NewCo) to be established by the AREVA Group of France. Ultimately it has been agreed that MHI will acquire a 5 percent equity stake at an outlay of approximately 250 million euros.
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. and Japan Nuclear Fuel Ltd. to acquire stake in Areva?: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. and Japan Nuclear Fuel Ltd. are making final coordination to take a stake in financially strapped French nuclear giant Areva SA, it has been learned. According to sources, the two Japanese companies will invest a total of tens of billions of yen in Areva by January 2017 to assist the company's reconstruction. They are expected to acquire a stake of about 10 percent in Areva. (The Yomiuri Shimbun December 8, 2016)
Kazatomprom interested in acquiring stake in Areva?: According to BFM Business (Oct. 7, 2016), Kazakh government-owned Kazatomprom is interested in acquiring a stake in Areva. Talks were held in Paris on Oct. 6, 2016.
Areva opens possibility of minority stake buy by CNNC: Areva and China National Nuclear Corp, or CNNC, signed a memorandum of understanding in Beijing Monday (Nov. 2) involving the "possible" acquisition of a minority stake by CNNC in the French nuclear company's capital, Areva said in a statement. (Platts Nov. 2, 2015)
